I had a mixed experience at the hotel. The rooms were stunning and spacious but a little dated, although very clean and adequate for one night. The service was really helpful and friendly overall, but the dining was a letdown with some dishes not meeting expectations. The location had its charms but seemed indifferent, and the dining options were limited at times. Overall, a decent stay with room for improvement.

The room I stayed in was stunning, spacious, and very clean, making for a comfortable night's rest. However, the decor felt a bit dated.
Service
7.0
The service was commendable, with the staff being really helpful and accommodating. However, the dining experience had its ups and downs.
Location
6.0
The location had its charms, set in beautiful restored outbuildings. However, the setting seemed a bit indifferent and lacked historical appreciation.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was a mixed bag. Some dishes were enjoyable, but others fell short, especially with limited choices. Pricey drinks added to the disappointment.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were adequate, but nothing extraordinary stood out during my stay.

The hotel had a big crack in one of the rooms, and the dressing table was on the verge of collapse, which made our initial impression quite disappointing. The staff, however, tried to accommodate our needs, even with limited resources. The dining experience could have been better with more variety, but the food quality was impressive. Overall, a mixed experience with some notable positives and drawbacks.

Rooms
5.0
The room we were assigned had a big crack and the dressing table was on the verge of collapse. We requested to see if there was another room available, as it was completely unacceptable. The rooms were scheduled for a makeover this month.
Service
6.0
The staff were fitting around us and willing to make our stay easy, but at times, it felt like there were not enough staff available. Despite this, the ones present were welcoming and professional.
Location
8.0
The location, set in restored outbuildings across the yard, was stunning and ideal for our visit to Bridgend.
Dining
7.0
The dining options could have been better with more choices, but the laverbread and eggs Benedict were delicious. Small details like having the toast and muffin buttered would have enhanced the experience.

I found my stay at The Great House to be quite charming with its olde world style rooms, but not ideal for long stays due to the small size. The self-catering facilities were nice, but I expected milk for my tea and coffee. Tumbling out of bed for breakfast was convenient, although there were some room for improvements.

Rooms
7.0
The olde world style rooms were charming but small; suitable for a short stay. Self-catering setup lacked milk for tea and coffee.
Service
6.0
The staff dealt with everything very professionally and were quite attentive. However, there were some issues with the Sunday lunch being a bit rare and the service felt overall poor.
Location
8.0
The location in High Street Bridgend of The Great House was perfect for my needs, but the town's development seemed indifferent. The attentive staff and warm fireplace added a nice touch.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was only okay, with a cold starter and some dishes lacking. However, the smoked salmon and poached egg breakfast was a highlight.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were decent overall, with room for improvement but a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms could use a lighter and brighter decor.
